Clatteringshaws Loch is a reservoir in the Scottish Lowlands. It is located about eight kilometers west of New Galloway in the Galloway Forest Park in the Council Area Dumfries and Galloway . The south bank of the lake and the dam are easy to reach via the A712 .
Clatteringshaw's Hole is approximately 1.6 miles long and up to one mile wide. The lake was created between 1929 and 1935 when the river Dee was dammed. Clatteringshaw's Hole is part of the Galloway Hydro Electric Scheme and is used to produce electrical energy. The water dammed in the lake is led through a 5.63 km long tunnel and drives the turbines of the Glenlee Power Station .
