Cleanfeed

Cleanfeed principle

In the clean feed ( engl. For clean signal ) is a) a signal type of video technology, b) a signal in the radio art.

Video technology

The Cleanfeed (CLF) describes a picture signal that is free of any program-specific graphics and overlays, i.e. a clean picture signal. It is often used when archiving contributions or entire programs on television stations or for program exchange. Since these overlays (such as so-called waist bands , scores in sports broadcasts, etc.) often show the program logo or follow certain design specifications for these programs, a neutral image is required for a repetition of this contribution in another program, for example. On this neutral image, differently designed overlays are now possible.

A cleanfeed recording is also desirable if only parts of the program are to be edited into a new post. This is particularly important in the case of sports broadcasts, for example when a live soccer game is compiled into a contribution for a sports magazine.

Radio and audio technology

In radio and audio technology, cleanfeed refers to a circuit for an output of a channel on an audio mixer that provides the sum signal without this channel (mix-minus). A typical application is the live telephone connection: Callers hear everything that comes from the mixer, except themselves, because that would be irritating.
