Clewwa

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Clewwa was a search engine set up in 2008 by the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety .

The Clewwa index only contains websites that provide information on the topics of food , cosmetics , textiles , tobacco , consumer goods , animal feed , crop protection , animal health , the environment and genetic engineering . They are included in the search engine without taking into account the points of view expressed therein. The providers whose web offers are included in the search include authorities, scientific institutions, business, environmental and consumer associations and the media.

Technically, the search engine is based on Nutch .

The Regional Computing Center for Lower Saxony (RRZN) of Leibniz University Hannover was responsible for the technical implementation .

Due to the insufficient application of the search engine by the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the search engine could not reach a relevant number of search queries and was subsequently discontinued in 2015. During the five-year period, an average of around 55,000 search queries were registered each year; the project cost a total of 218,000 euros.
