Clober Farm

The Clober Farm is a former farm building in the Scottish city of Milngavie in East Dunbartonshire . It is on the short dead end Clober Farm Lane , a side street off Craigton Road in the north of the city. In 1976 Clober Farm was added to the Scottish Monuments Lists in Category C.

history

Clober Farm was established as an agricultural farm in the early 18th century. After the death of her husband Archibald Douglas, 1st Duke of Douglas, his widow Margaret Douglas, Duchess of Douglas lived in the building. The building was expanded in 1800 and fundamentally renovated and modernized in 1946. The owner Vivienne Donaldson transferred the Clober Farm to a non-profit organization for the healing of spinal diseases ( SIS ) in 2007 . The former farm was remodeled for an estimated £ 240,000 following a fundraising campaign and opened in 2012 in the presence of Princess Anne .

Clober Farm is located on the northern edge of Milngavie. As in south-west Scotland, the two-story building is traditionally plastered with Harl . It ends with a slate roof. The protruding stairwell is striking.
