The Club Deportivo Trasandino de Los Andes is a Chilean football club from Los Andes . The club was founded in 1906 and plays its home games at the Estadio Regional de Los Andes , which can seat 2,800 spectators. Trasandino de Los Andes, which has never been a Chilean football champion, currently plays in the Segunda División Profesional, the third-highest division in Chile .

history

The Club Deportivo Trasandino de Los Andes was founded on April 1st, 1906 in the city of Los Andes , now with a little over 50,000 inhabitants in the Región de Valparaíso in western Chile . The founding fathers were workers of the Transandenbahn , which gave the newly founded association the name Trasandino . This makes Trasandino de Los Andes one of the old clubs in Chilean football, even if the club's history is less successful overall. During the first half century of its existence, the team played in deep regional amateur football in the Valparaíso region. From 1952 the club played in the newly created Segunda División, at that time the second highest league in Chile. There the club spent many years and often played for promotion to the Primera División , but was never able to bring it under wraps. In 1969, however, Trasandino de Los Andes experienced a very poor season and rose as bottom of the Segunda División in the third division. Five years later they were promoted again and were able to re-establish themselves in the Segunda División in the following years.

In 1985 Trasandino de Los Andes was renamed and from then on played under the name Cobreandino . In the same year they also played an excellent season in the second Chilean football league and reached the final in the playoffs for promotion to the first division, where Arturo Fernández Vial was met on CD . After both teams could each decide a final game for themselves, a play-off had to be played to decide who was promoted to the Primera División. In this Cobreandino de Los Andes sat on November 26, 1985 in Talca with 1-0 and made the first promotion for the Primera División. There Cobreandino played a not so bad season as a climber and finished with the same points and with the better goal difference compared to the direct competitor Audax Italiano La Florida the first non-relegation place. However, since Audax Italiano had won the decisive direct duel, Cobreandino de Los Andes had to return to the Segunda División after only one year of membership in the first division. After relegation from the first division, Cobreandino also played in the Segunda División against relegation and in 1991 even had to relegate to third division.

A year later the association was re-established and was henceforth called Trasandino de Los Andes again , which is still relevant today. In the league operations, however, they completely disappeared from the scene in the following years and played only regionally for many years. Trasandino de Los Andes has now made it back to the third-class Segunda División Profesional, in which they finished sixth in the past season (2013/14).
