Lothar Panicke

Lothar Axel Eberhard Panicke (born March 20, 1940 in Ranies ; † January 25, 2012 ) was a German agricultural scientist and politician ( CDU ).

Panicke worked as a farmer, received a diploma from the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and came to the research center for animal production in Dummerstorf in 1964 . He successfully completed his doctorate at the University of Rostock , where he was also an adjunct professor at the agricultural science faculty. His research focus at the Research Center for Animal Production, which became the Research Institute for the Biology of Farm Animals in 1993 , was dairy cattle. His results have been described in numerous publications. In 1988 he received the National Prize of the GDR III. Science and technology class for the development and introduction of new scientific and technical results to increase slaughter cattle production . In 2002 he received the Medal of Honor from the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice for many years of intensive cooperation.

Politically, Panicke belonged to the CDU, of which he was district chairman for several years. In 1994 he was elected to the state parliament in the constituency of Bad Doberan II , to which he was a member until 1998. In 2004 he was elected district council president of the Bad Doberan district.

Panicke was married and had three children.
