Clubes Liberales

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Clubes Liberales ( Liberal Clubs ) formed at the end of the 19th century in many parts of Mexico out of opposition to the dictatorial regime of the then incumbent President Porfirio Díaz . They were a kind of collecting basin for a multitude of social revolutionary ideas and political convictions mainly originating from Europe, the majority of which belonged to the left spectrum . From these clubs, the Partido Liberal Mexicano , the Liberal Party of Mexico , emerged in 1901 .
