Clubfighter
Clubfighter is an American word that has been used in professional boxing in German-speaking countries as well. It denotes boxers who don't have enough talent to get all the way forward and be successful. Nevertheless, they may have achieved serious performances: These can consist in victories against known opponents (e.g. Ross Puritty beat Wladimir Klitschko ) or in victories against other club fighters, but also in good performances in the event of a defeat (won rounds) or taker qualities .
Club fighters are only members of a more local club or no club at all because of their skills .
The term journeyman , used in the Anglo-American language area, is more revealing: The boxer named in this way is equivalent to a respectable opponent who can fight against some title contenders in the course of his career.
