Taker qualities

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The taker qualities (also taker abilities , both less often in the singular) is a term that is part of the constant vocabulary of the professional world in martial arts - especially boxing . It describes the ability of an athlete to endure hits from an opponent without significantly reducing his own fighting strength. Anyone who is given this rating thus receives poisoned praise, because unspoken criticism of his weak defense cannot prevent such hits.

The term is occasionally introduced into ball sports, e.g. B. when sports journalists or trainers want to appreciate a correspondingly combative achievement.

In boxing, the simple expression chin has established itself as an equal term . A good chin therefore stands for high ability to take and is sometimes referred to as a granite chin. A bad chin, on the other hand, receives the unflattering rating of glass chin .

The popular scientific literature takes up the concept of the taker qualities more and more often, but above all physical relationships can be brought to the point in a layman's way.
