Cobblestone Records

Cobblestone Records was an American record label that existed from the late 1960s to the early 1970s .

Cobblestone was initially in 1968/69 as a sub-label of Buddah Records, a record label for singles releases for pop bands and musicians such as Freddy Robinson , Alohe Burke or The Countdown 5 , including soul jazz recordings by saxophonist Joe Thomas , which were then released in 1972 Label released ( Comin 'Home ). After the Singles series was discontinued, Joe Fields established in New York City in 1971 a reorientation of the label as a sub-label for jazz LPs. The albums produced by Don Schlitten in the early 1970s included: a. Music by Hermeto Pascoal , Elmore James ,Grant Green , Richard Davis , Freddie McCoy , Neal Creque , Eric Kloss , Ruth Brown , Chuck Rainey , Cedar Walton / Hank Mobley , Jimmy Heath , Sonny Stitt , Pat Martino , Bobby Pierce , Harold Ousley , Gary McFarland , Steve Kuhn , Bobby Jones , Norman Connors and a six-LP documentary from the Newport Jazz Festival ( Newport in New York '72 ). Other producers were Michael Cuscuna and Fred Seibert. Some of the Cobblestone releases appeared in later years on Muse Records , which Fields founded with Don Schlitten.
