Coca-Cola Cup 1997/98

The 1997/98 Coca-Cola Cup was a three-nation tournament that was held from April 17 to 24, 1998 in the United Arab Emirates in one-day cricket . In which the international cricket season 1997/98 belonging tournament took teams from Australia , India and New Zealand participate. In the final India was able to prevail against Australia with 6 wickets.

Australia and India previously played a three-nation tournament in India together with Zimbabwe , and New Zealand an ODI series against Australia.

format

In a preliminary round, each team played twice against each other. There were two points for a win and one point for a draw or no result. The first two of the group qualified for the final and played for the tournament victory.

Desert Storm

The tournament became popularly known as Desert Storm. Before the final group game, India had to either win or achieve a better net run rate than New Zealand. After Australia had submitted a sandstorm occurred which briefly interrupted the game. Then it was Sachin Tendulkar who achieved the required run number with a Century so that India qualified for the final. In the final it was Tendulkar again who led India to victory with a Century and thus decided the tournament for his team.
