Codruța is a feminine given name that is mostly used in Romania .

Codru is a word mostly used in poetry and colloquial language for forest (originally mainly "high forest"). The meaning is thus something like "The little one from the forest". For example, the lyricist Mihai Eminescu uses it in his poem Revedere .
