Pier Jacopo Alari Bonacolsi

Pier Jacopo Alari-Bonacolsi (* 1460 in Mantua , † 1528 in Gazzuolo ), called Il Antico , was an Italian sculptor and medalist , about whose life little is known. He got the nickname Antico because he created his works in an antique style. Apart from traveling to Rome, he lived in the Mantua area, where he worked for the Gonzaga ducal family . He created a large number of bronzes, refining the traditional casting technique.
