Coemac (short for Corporación Empresarial de Materiales de Construcción ) is a Spanish building materials manufacturer based in Madrid. The company produces pipe systems for water supply and drainage under the “Adequa” brand. After the establishment in 1907 under the name Uralita , insulation materials, gypsum products, roof tiles and fiber cement were soon added-Products included in the production program. After the global financial crisis and the crisis in the Spanish real estate sector from 2008 onwards, the company began an extensive restructuring, in the course of which all company divisions except for PVC pipe production were divested. In 2015 the name was changed to Coemac. Due to health problems of former employees and residents in the vicinity of the asbestos-processing production facilities, the company was sentenced in the past to fines amounting to several million euros, but corresponding court decisions were partially revised.
