Coginchaug is a stretch of land in the area of ​​the city of Durham in the US state of Connecticut . The area is a swampy lowland in the area of ​​the city and is formed by the Coginchaug River and its tributaries.

According to William Chauncey Fowler's "History of Durham," the land at Coginchaug was first transferred to John Talcott in 1662 by the Connecticut General Assembly . In 1672 a document was drawn up in which the Indian owners entered into a contract with the Europeans who wanted to purchase the land from them. The "Deed of Cawginchaug from Tarramuggus, & c." Testifies to the takeover of "one tract of land commonly known by the name of Cawginchaug" from the natives to European settlers.
