Colônia Paulista is a settlement in the south of the Brazilian city of São Paulo . It was founded in 1829 by Lutheran immigrants from Germany.
The Gerstenberger family and the Stapf family are among the founding families of the village . There is still an old cemetery and two street names in the village that are reminiscent of German residents: Paulino Gottsfritz and Maria Roschel . The police station is also called Colônia Paulista . The place was originally about 34 kilometers south of the city of São Paulo in an agricultural region and is now a northern district of the suburb of Santa Terezinha I.
