Collier's Encyclopedia , the full title is Collier's Encyclopedia with Bibliography and Index , is a universal encyclopedia in English. According to the Encyclopædia Britannica and the Encyclopedia Americana, it is an important collection of what it claims to be the most important knowledge for mankind . The first edition appeared in 20 volumes in 1950–1951. In 1998 Microsoft acquired the rights to the online version and integrated the content into Microsoft Encarta .
