Comaniac

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Comaniac is a Swiss thrash metal band. The name Comaniac is a suitcase word from company and maniac (English madman / madman).

history

The band was founded at the end of 2010 by Cédric Iseli (drums) and Jonas Schmid (vocals, guitar), who knew each other from their school days. After a few months, the two agreed on the band name Comaniac and then played a few concerts together. In spring 2012 the two recorded the first demo Cowshed Demo . It was recorded in a friend's converted cowshed and contains five songs. In the summer of 2012, the band was supplemented with Dominic Blum (guitar) and Raymond Weibel (bass) and was thus complete for the first time. In this line-up there was another demo called Tumor Troop , which was released in the summer of 2013. The demo received its first international review.

A year later Comaniac recorded the debut album Return to the Wasteland in the KHE Recording Studio Sursee (Switzerland). It was published as a self-release in February 2015. The album received good to very good reviews internationally and sold out quickly. This enabled the underground label Stormspell Records to re-issue the Trend Killers album series . The second edition of Return to the Wasteland is limited to 500 copies. With the new album, the band played more concerts abroad. Comaniac released a socially critical video clip for the song Secret Seed . In 2016, Cédric Iseli and Dominic Blum decided to leave the band for personal reasons. Valentin Mössinger (guitar) and Stefan Häberli (drums) were introduced as new members in April 2016.

In autumn 2016 the KHE Recording Studio Sursee was boarded again to record the second album Instruction For Destruction . It was released on April 7, 2017 via SAOL (Service Artist Owned Labels) on compact disc and digitally as well as via Metalworld for a limited vinyl edition, which also included the bonus track The Spirit Of The Failed . With the album, the band toured Europe and Great Britain with Metal Church in June 2017 . A headlining tour through Central Europe followed in August. A music video was released for the song Coal . This was followed by another tour through Central Europe with Dr. Living Dead . In the summer of 2018, a Japan edition of Instrucion for Destruction was published , which was promoted with a Japan tour.

style

The band's style is heavily influenced by the thrash metal movement from the 1980s. Influences from bands like Exodus , Kreator or Heathen are recognizable. The guitar-heavy songwriting and the genre-typical screaming singing are particularly characteristic. The lyrics are mostly about individual fates or social grievances. Often, however, the texts leave some room for interpretation and are not related to clearly identifiable objects. On the second album, the musical direction changed by adding components of Heavy Metal and Power Metal to the characteristic Thrash Metal sound . The songs are more melodious and the vocals are partly supplemented with harmonies.
