The Comboio da Praia do Barril is a 1.11 km long narrow-gauge beach railway with a gauge of 600 mm on the Portuguese Ilha de Tavira .

Route

The journey begins on a pontoon bridge , the usage fee of which is included in the fare, near the Luz de Tavira standard gauge station of the Ferroviária de Lagos, 3¼ km away . It ends after an eight-minute drive on the beach ( Praia do Barril ).

history

The stretch was originally used for tuna fishing in Praia do Barril in the 1920s. Today it is used for tourism in the summer months. The standard gauge train station Pedras d'el Rei , which is even closer to the pontoon bridge, has since been taken out of service.
