Luz de Tavira is a place and a former municipality ( Freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Tavira . The community had 29,142 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
With the municipality reform on September 29, 2013 , the municipalities of Luz de Tavira and Santo Estêvão were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Luz de Tavira e Santo Estêvão . Luz de Tavira is the seat of this newly formed municipality.
From the pontoon bridge at Luz de Tavira, 3¼ km from the train station, the 1 km long Comboio da Praia do Barril leads to Praia do Barril .
