União the Freguesias de Luz de Tavira e Santo Estêvão , shortly Luz de Tavira e Santo Estêvão is a municipality ( freguesia ) in the district ( Concelho ) of Tavira in the Algarve , in southern Portugal .
4,535 inhabitants live in the municipality on an area of 59.91 km² (as of 2011 figures).
The municipality was created in the course of the regional reform in Portugal on September 29, 2013 by merging the municipalities of Luz de Tavira and Santo Estêvão . Luz de Tavira became the seat of the municipality, the former municipal administration in Santo Estêvão remained as a branch office and citizens' office.
