Santa Luzia is a small town and municipality in the Algarve in southern Portugal . It is nicknamed the “capital of the squid” ( Capital do polvo ).
history
The fishing village has been occupied since 1577. He then grew increasingly together with Tavira, to which it was administratively always part.
Santa Luzia became an independent municipality on December 31, 1984, when it was separated from the municipality of Santiago .
On May 13, 1999, the place was raised to a small town ( Vila ).
