Cachopo is a town and municipality in the Algarve in southern Portugal .

history

Traces of prehistoric settlement can be found at 112 archaeological sites in today's municipality of Cachopo. This heritage is also represented in the municipality's coat of arms, in which a stylized Anta can be seen.

Today's Cachopo has existed since at least 1535.

Cachopo remained a parish in Alcoutim County , only to belong to Tavira since its dissolution in 1836.
