Comix is a picture viewer for Linux and BSD that was specially developed for viewing comic book archives. Comix is written in the Python programming language and uses the free GUI toolkit GTK + . The program is free software and is offered free of charge under the GNU General Public License (GPL).

Functions

Comix works with the special file formats CBZ (Comic Book Zip) , CBR (Comic Book RAR) and CBT (Comic Book TAR) . These are compressed file archives, which in principle do not differ from the well-known ZIP , RAR and TAR and can also be opened with other programs. In these file archives are the respective comics, which are usually divided into several JPEG or PNG files with consecutive numbering. In addition, Comix can also open all common archives, gzip , bzip2 and tar , and display uncompressed images.

Localization

From version 2.7 of January 29, 2006 Comix is available in a German translation.
