List of commanders in chief of the British Army
The commander of the British Army ( Engl. Commander-in-Chief of the Forces ) was the military leader of the British land forces of the mid-17th century until 1904. Due to the reorganization of the army administration put Lord Roberts in 1904 the office of commander-down, which is now was no longer occupied. The function of the most senior soldier in the British Army was taken over by the Chief of the Imperial General Staff .
