Common cause

Common Cause is a US non-governmental organization based in Washington, DC. It was founded in 1970 by John W. Gardner .

The group aims to promote transparency in political institutions in the United States . The focus of the organization's engagement is on party financing reform, electoral reform, ethics in government, government responsibility and the media. Other fields of employment are health care, environmental protection and defense.

From 1980 to 1996 the organization published Common Cause Magazine .
