Compiere is free enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management software.

Compiere contains modules for purchasing, sales, warehouse management, financial accounting, marketing, project management, customer relationship management, content management, supply chain management, workflow management, e-mail and task management. All records in Compiere can refer to external documents

Like other ERP systems, Compiere can be adapted to the individual needs of the user without immense programming effort. The adjustments can also be made by the user himself within the Compiere client .

Compiere is multilingual , multicurrency and multi-client capable .

Compiere stands out from other products in that it stores all business partners in a data structure. The classic differentiation and separate storage of suppliers, customers, prospects and marketing addresses was dispensed with in favor of the advantage of replacing customer management with business partner management. Classic CRM systems only focus on the customer. For a company, this functionality is essential for customers, suppliers and interested parties. Because of this extended functionality, the Compiere CRM module should actually be called business partner management.

Compiere can currently be used on PostgreSQL , Postgres Plus Advanced Server and various Oracle database systems. The versions for PostgreSQL and Oracle XE are freely available and are sufficient for many installations. The Oracle XE version is limited to 4 GB database volume and one CPU. The commercial version of the database management system has a number of additional GUI functions or e.g. B. PDF export. Oracle databases and the Postgres Plus Advanced Server offered by EnterpriseDB can be used as databases for the commercial version . Versions for databases such as DB2 and MS SQLServer are still pending.

Compiere is offered with a dual license . The user has the choice between the free GPL version or the commercial license, which he can purchase as part of a maintenance contract.

Project spin-offs

Compiere spin-offs

After Compiere was no longer under an open license, but became a classic proprietary application, this split the developer community and in August 2006 the follow-up project ADempiere was born.

In 2011, another dispute between the developers led to a new spin-off, so that there are currently two ADempiere lines of development and a “grandson” of Compiere: ADempiere.net, ADempiere.org and iDempiere.org. There are also the Openbravo and Metasfresh projects.
