history

The Computerwelt was founded in 1987 by Manfred Weiss as part of the international publishing group International Data Group (IDG) and was published by IDG Communications Verlags GesmbH , which resided in Zieglergasse. In 1998 the website started at cw-online.at. After the publisher delivered surpluses until 1999, the 2000 financial year was balanced and 2001 a loss. A restructuring program was then started and IDG decided to withdraw from the operative business in Austria.

In December 2002 Manfred Weiß took over the editor from Ralph Peter Rauchfuss. Manfred Weiß founded Info Technologie Verlag GmbH in 2003 in the Halbgasse around the corner and took over all the shares in the computer world as a license holder of IDG. By spring, the editor-in-chief Karin Tzschentke was replaced by Klaus Lorbeer, who later worked together with Edmund Lindau. The internet presence at computerwelt.at has been available since the beginning of 2004. Laurel left in 2005, and in spring 2011 Weiss also took over as editor-in-chief.

In 2014, Oliver Weiss took over as the publisher and editor-in-chief, at the same time the publishing house changed from Info Technologie Verlag GmbH to CW Fachverlag GmbH , while maintaining the same address.
