The Concord Pavilion is an amphitheater in Concord , California .

History

The building was designed by the building architect Frank Gehry together with the landscape designer Peter Walker . The amphitheater was opened in May 1975 with a seating capacity of 12,500. Starting in 2000, the outdoor stage was called the Chronicle Pavilion for six years . Between 2006 and 2013 the structure was known as the Sleep Train Pavilion . The venue has held its original name again since 2014 and is owned by Concord City Council and is operated and serviced by Live Nation Entertainment.

In addition to music festivals such as the Concord Jazz Festival and high school degrees , concerts by mostly internationally known musicians such as Bing Crosby , Eric Clapton , Huey Lewis and the News and Prince have already taken place here .
