A conduit is a utility program or converter that enables data to be synchronized between a Palm PDA and a desktop PC . Conduit is not to be confused with malware, a browser hijacker that can infect Mac OS and Windows.

This utility is called during HotSync on the desktop PC.

Standard conduits for Palm PDAs are, for example, the conduits for synchronizing the following Palm programs:

• calendar
• notes
• Addresses
• tasks

Different conduits are supplied for different desktop PC programs ( Outlook / Palm Desktop).

Whether a conduit allows one-way or two-way synchronization depends, among other things, on the conduit itself.
