Connotations - Journal for Critical Debate is a literary journal of the Connotations Society for Critical Debate and appears twice a year. The language of publication is English.

Goals and content

Connotations magazine aims to promote the exchange between scholars who study British literature from the Middle Ages to the modern day, as well as American and other English-language literature. From a historical perspective, the semantic and stylistic energy of the English language in literature is examined. Various research approaches are presented. In addition to the main articles, each issue of the Connotations contains an extensive discussion forum. In this, ongoing research projects or critical hypotheses are discussed, for example, and reactions to current books and articles that have appeared in Connotations or otherwise are reproduced.
