Contemporary piano ensemble

The Contemporary Piano Ensemble is a music group founded in 1993 by the late jazz pianist James Williams and made up of five jazz pianists. Its members are:

With the exception of Geoff Keezer, they are all African American jazz pianists of the American southern music tradition, developing the music of Phineas Newborn . They manage the difficult interplay of four pianos with astonishing clarity, although all five pianists do little to force their virtuosity.
