Cool School - Students Shaping the School of the Future was an Austria-wide , non-partisan student association that campaigned for the participation of children and young people in schools. The association was founded at the 1st Austrian Children's Congress in Graz in 2003 and remained active until its "finissage coole schule" on March 19, 2010.

Coole Schule was unique in the Austrian educational landscape in several ways. Initially, the association was independent of any party and was not affiliated with any political currents, unlike the larger student organizations in Austria. The association also included students from all types of schools, beginning with elementary school . The association organized a number of campaigns, including nine Austria and state-wide children's congresses (including in the Austrian Parliament in 2005).

The school initiative campaigned for a general reform of the Austrian school system. Her most important concern, however, was to strengthen student participation through legal measures such as the introduction of class councils, school parliaments and the election of class and school representatives in all schools. With a corresponding citizens' initiative , which the Cool School brought to the Austrian parliament in July 2009, the initiative demanded the implementation of these demands and at the same time made history in Austrian parliamentarism, as the initiative was the first of under 19-year-old citizens.

The initiators were awarded the TrauDi children's rights prize in November 2004 for their commitment .
