coolibri is a multi-city magazine based in Dortmund . It appears in the Rhine / Ruhr area and in the Bergisches Land with a circulation of 100,000 copies and a reach of approx. 412,000 readers per issue ( AWA 2016), making it the city magazine with the highest circulation and the most widely read in Germany. After a steadily decreasing circulation figures, the IVW withdrew from the independent circulation review in 2017. The publishing house is based in Dortmund; There is another regional editorial office in Düsseldorf.

The magazine is available free of charge as an advertising medium and has been published monthly since 1983 primarily for the target group of over 16-year-olds, in order to provide them with information about events and parties in their region. Coolibri is available in restaurants, clubs, cinemas and shops - at over 3,000 distribution points in total. The distribution limits are in the west near Krefeld / Mönchengladbach, in the east near Hamm, in the north near Haltern and in the south behind Remscheid. Since 2013 coolibri media GmbH & Co. KG has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lensing Media in Dortmund .

The magazine deals primarily with music, film, culture, theater and art as well as party and restaurant tips and includes an extensive calendar of events for the region. An extensive classified section is also included. Since 2008 the publisher has been offering its magazine and additional content - such as B. the complete cinema program of the region, as well as other and more current event tips - also online.

Between 2004 and 2010, the 'coolibri-card' was published as a supplement to the coolibri, which gave its owners various discounts from over 300 partners in the publication area. Since the beginning of the 1990s, coolibri has organized regular dating parties in the publication area with "Herz bits Haifisch" as a supplement to the contact ad section.

Since 2014, the coolibri publishing house has been publishing its own campus magazine specifically aimed at students. Since 2017, the magazine has contained monthly changing specials on topics such as weddings, holidays, cars and etc. Since the takeover of competitor Heinz , the trailer magazine (Berndt Media) can also be found in the Ruhr area .
