history

The company was founded in Findlay , Ohio in 1926 and bears the name of one of its founders, Ira J. Cooper. Today the company has over 9,200 employees worldwide.

In 1997 the tire manufacturer Avon Tires was taken over.

In 2003 the tire manufacturer Mickey Thompson in Stow (Ohio) was taken over.
