Cooperative Patent Classification

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Cooperative Patent Classification (CPC) is a patent classification system , jointly run by the European Patent Office (EPO) and the US Patent and Trademark Office has been developed (United States Patent and Trademark Office, USPTO).

As of January 1, 2013, this classification system will provide the basis for the technological classification of inventions in the EPO when a patent is granted, thus replacing the previous ECLA . In the USPTO, the USPC is to be replaced “in due time”.
