from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cordula von Fürstenberg († 1561 ) was the abbess of the noble women's monastery in Geseke .

Life

Her father was the electoral Cologne bailiff Anton von Fürstenberg zu Neheim. The mother was Petronella von Wrede.

She was first mentioned in 1556 as a member of the Geseke Abbey in an unknown capacity together with the abbess Ursula von Brenken and the chapter of the abbey. It was about an exchange of goods with the Böddeken monastery and the feudal conflict with Friedrich von Twiste.

She became abbess in 1559, taking the corresponding oath on September 25, 1560. During her time, the dispute with Friedrich von Twiste ended.

Her seal was pointed oval. On it she is shown with a lusciously falling dress, a shawl and a headscarf. To the left and right of it are the coats of arms of the von Fürstenberg and von Wrede families. The legend says: " Abadissa ecclesiae Gesicae ."
