Corn-cob mix

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Corn-Cob-Mix (CCM) is a feed mostly used in pig fattening, which consists of the spindle and the grains of the corn cob . It is a special form of corncob meal that is harvested with a combine harvester with a header (corn head). In order to harvest CCM, it is necessary in some combine harvesters to close off certain parts of the separation system. Since CCM is processed into grist or straw silage , less ripe crops with a higher water content in the grain can be harvested and further processed. CCM can be used as a complete basic forage with a high energy content in cattle and pig fattening. Because of the corn cobs it contains, the crude fiber content is five to eight percent higher than that of grain maize (3%).
