Coronel Bogado (Paraguay)

Coronel Bogado is a city and district in the Itapúa department in southern Paraguay , 49 km west of Encarnación . It has a population of around 21,000 and is named after a Paraguayan hero of the South American Wars of Independence . The district was founded on May 2, 1913. After the First World War , numerous Czechs and Slovaks settled in the region.

The main line of business is agriculture, in which cotton, wheat, cassava, the mate bush, peanuts, beans, soy, corn, rice and watermelons are grown. There are also various companies in the food industry in the district, including the largest manufacturer of traditional Paraguayan baked goods, Chipa .
