Cotillon
The term cotillon (also: cotillion, cotillon) has different meanings:
- fashion historical term for certain petticoats of peasant costume in France
- derived from this in the 18th century: a certain counter dance ,
- corresponding musical compositions (e.g. by Schubert)
- in the 19th century developed into a dance game
- also shortened for: cotillon articles , the decorative paper articles given away during this cotillon dance.
- Title of a ballet by George Balanchine and Boris Kochno to music by Emmanuel Chabrier , including April 12, 1932
- a record label, a subsidiary of Atlantic Records
