The County Court is a low-ranking court in England and Wales . The County Court is a comparatively young court and was introduced in 1846 by the County Courts Act 1846 ; There are 216 county courts across England and Wales. Around 85 percent of civil law jurisdiction is made here.

The county courts are manned by single judges, mostly circuit judges up to an amount in dispute of £ 5,000 including district judges . In addition, recorders are used, i. H. Barristers or solicitors who work temporarily as judges by the Queen on the recommendation of the Lord Chancellor .

The county is strictly civil. It settles cases with a maximum value in dispute of £ 50,000.
