Coupang is a South Korean website for the online business , founded by Bom Kim (Kim Beom-seok) of 2010. The company's headquarters are in Songpa-gu , Seoul .

In the first three fiscal years, the company had sales of two trillion won (around € 1.6 billion). Coupang grew into one of the largest online mail order companies in South Korea. According to the company, half of the South Korean population (around 51 million) have downloaded the app . Coupang takes over the delivery itself and has thus integrated the entire supply chain in its own company.

According to Bom Kim, the internationalization of the service is not the aim. South Korea offers a unique infrastructure in major cities, which enables over 99% of all orders to be delivered to customers within 24 hours. In addition, South Korea has the fifth largest e-commerce market in the world, despite its comparatively small population .

In November 2018, Japanese company SoftBank invested $ 2 billion in Coupang.
