The Cove Rock (in Argentina Roca Bóveda ) is a small and low rock island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is 3 miles west of King George Island's North Foreland Peninsula .
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations mapped the rock in 1937 and named it descriptively as Cone Rock (English for cone rock ). Presumably due to a transcription error, it appeared under the current name in a publication of the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office .
