Críona Ní Dhálaigh (2015)

Críona Ní Dhálaigh [ kʲɾʲiː ə n̪ə nʲiː ɣɑːɫiː ] (* in Dublin ) is an Irish politician from Sinn Féin and was the 346th Mayor of Dublin from June 2015 to June 2016.

Life

Ní Dhálaigh grew up in Dublin. On April 3, 2006 she moved to the Dublin City Council to fill the vacant seat of her party colleague Andrew O'Connell for the constituency of South West Inner City . Their regular re-election took place in 2009 and 2014.

On June 29, 2015, she was elected Lord Mayor of Dublin , replacing the non-party Christy Burke . This makes her the city's first mayor appointed by Sinn Féin. Her predecessor Burke began his political career in the party in the 1980s, but left the Sinn Féin in 2009, five years before he was elected mayor of Dublin.
