Crux (spelling: CRUX) is an x86-64 optimized Linux distribution . The primary goal of the distribution is to follow the KISS principle , which results in a package management based on gzip -compressed packages being used, BSD- like files being used for configuration and a relatively small collection of pre-packed packages . The secondary focus is on the use of new Linux functions and current libraries .
philosophy
According to the company's own statements, the goal is not to become known, but to integrate as many functions as possible into the system. The distribution is aimed at users who want to use a system without compromise. By and large, the distribution follows the following points:
- Follow the KISS principle ( Keep it simple, stupid. ), Both in the system itself and during development
- Installation of source-based packages using the port system
- Simplicity over automation
- Native configuration before configuration via abstraction layers
- No unnecessary documentation and files (this also includes internationalization , an application only supports the language in which it is written)
- Current features and packages, but not the latest
- System can be expanded easily
- Active community outside of the main development team
