Crux Mathematicorum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Crux Mathematicorum is a Canadian mathematics journal published by the Canadian Mathematical Society . In terms of content, it is designed for mathematical problem solving and publishes problems and solutions in several rubrics, which are primarily aimed at high school graduates and first-year students.

The journal was founded in 1975 under the name Eureka by the Carleton-Ottawa Mathematics Association with Léo Sauvé as editor. In 1978 it was renamed Crux Mathematicorum in order not to be confused with a previously named journal of the Cambridge University Mathematical Society. The Canadian Mathematical Society took over the publication in 1985 and GW Sands soon became the new editor, followed by Bruce LR Shawyer in 1996. The journal was merged in 1997 with the journal Mathematical Mayhem , also published by the Canadian Mathematical Society, and has since been called Crux Mathematicorum with Mathematical Mayhem . Jim Totten became the new editor in 2003, who in turn was replaced by Václav Linek in 2008.
