The cubus kunsthalle is an art house in Duisburg .

history

In 1991 the Niederrheinisches Museum moved into a new building. In order to be able to continue using the previous building culturally, citizens of Duisburg founded a GmbH & Co. KG , which received the museum building from the city for 25 years. The KG takes care of the ongoing maintenance of the building. The first exhibition was opened in 1995. Parts of the property are sublet in order to generate funds for maintaining the cultural scene. There is also an association that carries out the art projects.

The art gallery is located in the Kantpark in the immediate vicinity of the Lehmbruck Museum, not far from Duisburg Central Station .

Programmatic orientation

The Kunsthalle comments on the artistic direction of the exhibited works on its homepage:

The cubus kunsthalle presents different positions of contemporary art without deciding a priori on an artistic direction. It shows works mainly by young artists who offer new artistic approaches. "

Every year the Kunsthalle organizes an art market for artists from Duisburg and the surrounding area.

In addition, the cubus kunsthalle has made a name for itself as a committed cultural organizer beyond the Ruhr and Rhineland through a varied and demanding cultural program with concerts, cabaret and dance evenings as well as readings. The events are financed without public funds and exclusively through the support of sponsors and sponsors.
