Cuneus

The term Cuneus (from Latin wedge ) means:

  • part of the fore wing of bedbugs, see Hemielytre
  • part of the occipital lobe in the brain
  • Ray of the horse's hoof
  • in the ancient:
    • the stretch of coast between Cape Sacrum (today Cabo de São Vicente) and the mouth of the Anas (today Rio Arade) on the Portuguese south coast, see Cuneus Ager
    • a cape on this stretch of coast near Lagos (today Ponta de Piedade )
    • a combat formation or a unit of the late Roman army, usually made up of barbaric mercenaries, see Cuneus (military)
    • Latin expression for a coin mark,
