Cursus (rhythm)
In addition to ancient metrics , the Latin Middle Ages also knew rhythmic verses that are known under the name of cursus . In medieval documents , especially those of the Popes , they were inserted at the end of sentences to create a mark of authenticity.
The most important forms of the cursus are:
- cursus velox (Xxx XxXx), e.g. B. gloriam perducamur
- cursus planus (Xx xXx), e.g. B. nostris infunde and the
- cursus tardus (Xx xXxx), e.g. B. incarnationem cognovimus
