Cyberlore Studios, Inc. was an American computer game development studio in Northampton, Massachusetts .

Company history

The studio was founded in 1992 by Lester Humphreys, Ken Gray and Herb Perez, previously key roles in the development of SSI -title The Dark Queen of Krynn occupied. The first self-developed title was Al-Qadim: The Genie's Curse, based on the role-playing license Dungeons & Dragons on behalf of SSI . As a result, the company developed several expansions to the games of other developers on commission, including Warcraft 2: Beyond the Dark Portal , Heroes of Might and Magic 2: The Price of Loyalty and several add-ons for Mechwarrior 4 . In 2000, Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim appeared, the only original, in-house development title of the company, which was expanded in the following year. In 2003 the company published an implementation of the board game Risk through Atari and in 2004 the simulation game Playboy: The Mansion , which was based on the life of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner . After Cyberlore's publishing partner Hip Games ceased operations in 2005, Cyberlore also gave up developing computer games. A large part of the workforce was laid off and the focus shifted to the serious games and training software for companies division founded in 2004. After the changeover, the company was continued under the name Minerva Software.
